Exploring Brean and Somerset: A Haven for Dogs and Their Owners

Somerset is renowned for its picturesque landscapes, historical sites, and rich culinary traditions. It’s not just a paradise for humans but for dogs too. As you explore the rolling hills, charming villages, and stunning coastlines of Somerset, you’ll find a variety of dog-friendly pubs and eateries where you and your furry friend can unwind and enjoy delicious meals.

The View Kitchen & Bar at Brean Country Club
Nestled in the serene surroundings of Brean Country Club, The View Kitchen & Bar offers a delightful escape with stunning views towards Brent Knoll and the Mendips. This restaurant prides itself on serving top-notch food using locally sourced produce. Whether you're catching up with friends or having a family meal, the dog-friendly lounge and outdoor seating area make it a perfect spot to relax with your four-legged friend.

The Tavern
Located within Brean Leisure Park, The Tavern is renowned for its Sunday carvery, hearty breakfasts, light lunches, and daytime entertainment for children. This pub welcomes dogs during the day, making it an ideal pit stop for families exploring the park or enjoying a day out in Brean.

Entertainment and Local Attractions

Brean Beach
With miles of golden sand, Brean Beach is a fantastic spot for both dogs and their owners. Dogs are welcome to roam off-leash all year round, making it the perfect location for a game of fetch or a leisurely stroll along the coastline. There is car parking available on the beach for a small charge, which is especially convenient for those with less mobility. Some sections of the beach are vehicle-free, allowing your little ones to run freely while you enjoy the stunning views.

Brean Down
A beautiful natural pier stretching into the Bristol Channel with a historical fort and amazing views all around. On a sunny day, you can see not only Weston-super-Mare, Berrow and Brean beachy, but also the southern Wales coastline. When you reach the top, head seaward to explore Brean Down Fort built in the 1860s to defend the channel ports of Cardiff and Bristol. Please note, that it is a steep climb and we recommend that dogs are on leads at all times.

Glastonbury Tor
Climb to the top of Glastonbury Tor and marvel at the panoramic views stretching across Somerset and beyond. Dogs are welcome to join you on this iconic hill walk, although they must be kept on a lead to protect the local wildlife.

Brean Theme Park
From heart-stopping roller coasters to good old-fashioned dodgems, there’s a ride for everyone at Brean Theme Park. And little ones don’t get left out either – there are lots of mini rides and coasters for them to enjoy. Four-legged family members are also welcome, however, the rides are for humans only.

Cheddar Gorge and Caves
Considered one of Britain’s most incredible natural landmarks, with sweeping views, prehistoric history, mesmerising cliffs and a centre for caving and rock climbing. Though the rocky paths, cliff edges and high vantage points are what make it such a remarkable place to explore, it adds an element of danger to the experience with dogs if you don’t keep them on their leads and under control. Lace up your hiking boots and embark on an unforgettable adventure!

Travelling With Your Dog

When planning a dog-friendly holiday, it’s crucial to consider both the essentials you’ll need to pack and the facilities and regulations of the pet-friendly parks you’ll be visiting.
